Jordan King prepares for Monza bow
17-year-old Jordan King prepared for his first ever race weekend at Monza by setting the third fastest time in Formula Renault 2.0 NEC practice on Friday.
Contesting his final event in the series, the world famous track on the outskirts of Milan poses the biggest test for King, as he looks to gain valuable experience at a current Grand Prix venue. It is the
first time the series has ever raced at Monza and a competitive 24 cars will line-up for this weekend’s triple-header.
Friday’s two practice sessions were extremely productive for King as the talented Briton ended up third on the timesheets and completed some valuable running on the ultra fast layout.
“Today went well,” said King. “I ended up P3 and we probably could have gone a bit quicker. We put new tyres on, as I wanted to do a run to find out our out right speed and see where we stood. I managed to
get a big gap in the traffic and pushed pretty hard for my fastest lap – I am happy that our speed is there. It will be a very interesting qualifying session with drivers being able to get such a big tow
along the straights. It is a fantastic place and I am really looking forward to the weekend.”
Another free practice session follows on Saturday morning at 9.30. The two qualifying sessions start at 13.35 and determine the starting grids of the first two races. Race 1 is set for 18.00 on Saturday evening; it’s result providing the starting grid of the third race, reversing the first six drivers on the grid. Race two and three take place on Sunday the 25th of September at 12.25 and 17.15.
The official Jordan King website will provide updates throughout the weekend before filing a full report on Monday.
