Jordan King experienced a final weekend of the 2011 CERTINA Formula Renault 2.0 UK championship that summed up his maiden season of car racing.

King showed blistering pace at times, making stellar manoeuvres in each of the two races at Silverstone, but his campaign ultimately ended on a low point after he was crudely hit from behind by an overzealous rival in the final contest of the year.

The 17-year-old rookie secured a super seventh in the penultimate race after passing his Manor Competition team-mate Josh Hill – son of former Formula 1 world champion Damon.

Race two also seemed to be going to plan off the line, until Felix Serralles came from two cars back to ride over the rear of King’s car, making heavy contact and the spinning the youngster’s car in the process.

Fired up from being relegated to last place, King put in a courageous drive to close out the season with an eighth place finish after making a number of fantastic passes. It wasn’t the result that King’s pace deserved, but he at least secured enough points to finish eighth in the overall standings and third in the Graduate rankings.

“It is always frustrating when you work so hard to achieve something and it is taken away from you by another driver,” he said. “It kind of sums the season up really – we could have better results with a bit more luck. It is all part of the experience though and I have to remind myself that this is only my first year of racing.”

A full report on Jordan’s final Formula Renault 2.0 UK weekend of the season will be published here tomorrow, but it is not the final race of the Hugo Boss Brand Ambassadors year – we will be back in two weeks time to report on Jordan’s F1-supporting outing at the Indian Grand Prix.
